GERMAN CRASHCOURSE

As long as a refugee's status is not recognised by the state, they cannot receive any paid language courses from the Federal Office of Migration - and this process can take a very long time to complete!

In the meantime, volunteer work can provide "newcomers" with the ability to linguistically orientate themselves around their new environment. This is why we are currently providing five language courses with varying levels of difficulty to refugees and asylum-seekers.

The lesson dates and times are:

Beginner 1Tuesday and Wednesday, 15:00 - 16:30
Beginner 2Tuesday and Wednesday, 15:30 - 17:00
Intermediate 1Monday and Tuesday, 17:00 - 19:00
Intermediate 2: Tuesday and Thursday, 18:30 - 20:00
Parent Course: Thursday and Friday, 10:00 - 11:30

During the Parent Course, we provide childcare so students can study the lesson material and freely talk amongst themselves without distraction or disturbance.

In February 2016, we expect a very large group of new refugees to arrive in Burghausen. We urgently need more volunteers to teach German to meet the new demand of people. We welcome anyone who would like to participate in this project!

Anyone who can speak fluid German can volunteer as a teacher. All we ask of you is patience, empathy, and an ability to improvise.

One of the most important features of communication is language, which is an important requirement for integration. Only if we “understand” each other can we achieve respect and understanding not only for each other, but also for our respective cultures, their traditions and laws; this is necessary to develop a tolerant co-existence.

I am taking action because it is very important to me that our future fellow citizens are integrated as well as possible. In addition, I enjoy working and communicating with people and the contact with people from various different cultures broadens my horizon in many different ways. Gladly, I support a not-for-profit team which is as motivated, competent and committed as the Workgroup Language.
